​As president of Kimbrough Public Relations, Kara Kennedy has an extensive background in strategic branding and marketing and works with a variety of clients on their strategic public relations, social media and marketing plans.  She also owns the lifestyle blog, Inspired Southerner, LLC and is a content producer for Bham Now. 

Kara headed the PR team at Samford University that implemented a strategy to re-brand Samford's School of Business to the Brock School of Business. In addition to her duties as at the Brock School of Business and for two years, she served as they university's campus-wide Social Media Strategist. In this role, she was tasked with creating social media initiatives, writing social media policies and monitoring Samford's social media platforms.

Kara's experience also includes work in public relations, marketing, public affairs and fundraising for the American Red Cross National Office in Washington, DC.  After 9/11 she worked in disaster public affairs to help victims of the September 11 tragedy.  She also worked with the Red Cross Public Affairs team to help prepare the organization for Capitol Hill press conferences and hearings in the days following September 11.

Kara has a background working with political organizations on both sides of the aisle. Her early political work includes, working with Alabama Governor Guy Hunt’s campaign during his bid for a second term in office and then serving with Governor Hunt's administration through 1993.  While in D.C. she worked on projects for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and International Republican Institute.  In 2007 she worked with a group in Atlanta to bring the European Ambassador John Bruton to Alabama to meet with the Governor and other elected officials.  Kara also continues to work with a number of statewide candidates who are running for office.

Kara is a graduate from Auburn University and a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.  Professionally, Kara is a board member of the Public Relations Society of America, Alabama Chapter and a member of the Women's Network in Birmingham, Alabama

Kara enjoys working with a number of nonprofit organizations.  She serves as the volunteer Executive Director for the North Jefferson Arts Alliance (formerly the Fultondale Arts Council) where she works with a volunteer board of directors to promote the arts in North Jefferson County, Alabama.
